About us

I've been in the tech industry for 15 years. After a short stint in the renewables space, I can't help but see both sides of the coin - the value and advancements we can get from new technologies, GenAI, Agentic AI, etc. AND... the wasteful nature of technological advancement in the form of depletion of resources, displacement of communities, further widening the power gap, and the wastefulness of tech (planned obsolescence, accelerated refresh/replacement cycles, buying gear "just to try it" and more).

I am selfishly creating this group for my own desire to not feel alone in the conflict I have between a passion for tech and a passion for the environment. I would love to meet people who are working in the interconnection of this space, who are seeking to make positive change, who are conscious about how technology and our planet and our future can co-exist without creating more harm.

This group is for professionals in the tech, tech-adjacent, energy, renewables, climate-tech, and sustainability fields. If you work in tech and/or are a tech savvy individual and want to save the planet, you'd be a good fit here. Also, students and job-seekers are welcome, so long as your experience aligns with the nature of this group.

This group is NOT for financial advisors, real estate agents, sales pitches, and other non-related topics.

Basic attendance rules:
- No-show without a legitimate excuse (car accident, illness, basement flooding, etc.) and without a heads-up will be removed from the group
- Disrespectful and unwanted behavior (sales pitches, using this for dating, hostile and/or discriminatory comments, creating drama, etc.) will result in a ban from the group
- No warnings, first violation will be the last. I've ran meet-up groups for many years, I have a no-tolerance policy. We're all adults and professionals, we can extend common courtesy to me - as the paying organizer for this group - and other members of this group to show up and communicate effectively & respectfully.

I am also tired of happy hours, coffee, and eating non-stop when it comes to networking... So this group will be active, going off the beaten path, and paving new experiences.
