Come celebrate with us on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM for our free, all-ages annual New Year’s event that celebrates local culture, art, and community.
Music by the San Francisco Guqin and Xiao Music Society, performing traditional Chinese instruments—the guqin (a seven-string zither) and xiao (a bamboo flute)—to create a harmonious, reflective, and aspirational atmosphere.
Tasty Bites by Café de Olla: Indulge in handmade quesadillas filled with locally-sourced ingredients (chicken, veggie, and vegan options available) and enjoy agua de jamaica, a refreshing hibiscus flower beverage, all lovingly prepared by owners Francisco Camacho and Eduardo Antonio. Food is served on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early to make sure you don’t miss out!
Year of the Snake Art Installations: Participate in hands-on artmaking led by Teaching Artists Aiko Cuneo and Monica Lee and contribute to a large-scale paper snake created by Ruth's Table participants. Experience a collaborative mural inspired by the Year of the Wood Snake, created by 7th and 8th grade art students from Children’s Day School.
Double-Headed Lion Dance Performance: Back by popular demand! Experience a double-headed lion dance by the Chung Ngai Lion Dancers. This joyful spectacle symbolizes luck and resilience, reflecting the troupe's 50+ years of dedication to promoting Chinese performing arts and uniting communities.
