Whether you're a beginner or already have some experience with Containers – we're excited to announce our new MeetUp series, where you can deepen your knowledge about AWS powerful container orchestration tools.
For beginners, this series is the perfect place to get started and find your ways around Kubernetes, ECS and Fargate. We'll cover everything you need to know to get up and running Containers, from setting up a cluster to deploying and managing applications. You'll also learn about some of the key features, including automatic scaling, self-healing, and rolling updates.
For those who already have some experience with Containers, this series will provide an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and explore more advanced topics. We'll cover topics such as deploying complex applications, managing large-scale clusters, and integrating the technology with other tools and platforms.
The unique aspect of our MeetUp series is that each session will be led by a customer who will share their use case for using Containers on AWS. From there, we'll dive deeper into the technical specs and explore how Containers can be used to address specific business challenges.
This approach provides a practical, real-world perspective on Containers and helps to illustrate how it can be used to solve real business problems. You'll get a chance to see how Kubernetes, ECS and Fargate are used in a variety of industries and use cases and learn from the experiences of other professionals who have successfully implemented these in their organizations.

Talk 1: The Augmented Engineer: From Idea to Production with Claude
AI can write code. But between "it works on my machine" and a feature running in production lies everything that actually makes engineering hard, and that is exactly where AI augmentation pays off. Aimed at solo developers and small teams, this talk places the "augmented engineer" on the AI maturity ladder (past vibe coding, well before autonomous agent fleets) and then gets practical: setting up Claude for real daily work, sharing team conventions through a private plugin marketplace, and what changes once skills and MCP enter your workflow. Live finale: build a feature, ship it to AWS, break it in production, and debug it together with Claude.
Talk 2: Isolated Compute for Humans and Agents: Lambda MicroVMs
Interactive dev environments, AI agent sandboxes, isolated CI/CD runners: they all need the same thing, per-session compute that starts fast, isolates strongly, and keeps state across pauses. AWS Lambda MicroVMs are Firecracker-based environments with VM-level isolation, snapshot-based startup, and hours of persistent memory and disk state. You launch, suspend, resume and terminate them explicitly, and each MicroVM gets its own HTTPS endpoint with built-in auth. No cluster, no load balancer, no ingress plumbing. The talk covers the lifecycle and networking model, how MicroVMs differ from Lambda functions, EC2 and container platforms, and live demos of the use cases they have already put them to work in.
Talk 3: Finding the Right Compute for Fortran in the Cloud
Take a pile of decades-old Fortran, terabytes of weather data a day, and a hard SLA, then find it a home in the cloud. This talk follows MeteoSwiss's dispersion-modelling workload through four compute options on AWS: from AWS Batch (which worked, barely, and once burned $25k over Christmas) through Fargate and EC2-backed ECS to Managed Instances. Expect real numbers, the I/O bottleneck behind every decision, and a migration that landed 50 to 65% cheaper.
