Have you ever felt like people understand you, but not completely? Maybe they smile and nod, but still ask you to repeat yourself more than you expected. Your accent could be the reason.Unlike Chinese, Japanese has only a few word pairs that differ because of accent. This often makes learners think accent training is not important, but that is a risky mistake. Poor accent habits make conversations harder for both you and the person listening, so talking becomes more tiring than it should be.
This four-part workshop series covers what most language schools leave out: Japanese pitch accent (高低アクセント). We will start with the basics and build up step by step.
(All sessions are conducted in English, with plenty of Japanese examples.)💡 What you'll gain by the end of the series:
All levels: Learn how to use an accent dictionary — so you can always find the correct accent on your own
N5–N4 (Beginner): Understand the concept of mora (拍) and be able to hear and produce key minimal pairs
N3–N2 (Intermediate): Everything above, plus consciously produce all 4 accent patterns for words you already know
N1+ (Advanced): Everything above, plus identify 3 of your own pronunciation habits and build a routine to improve them📅 Full Series Schedule
