What we’re about

Founded in 1920, Contra Costa Hills Club is a nonprofit hiking club, committed to the protection of the environment. Hikes and urban walks are scheduled on Thursday and Sunday, all chosen and led by volunteers. Our hikes are varied in location and terrain, and are easy to challenging. Most of the hikes and urban walks take place in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Some take place in San Francisco, Marin, and occasionally in Solano and Santa Clara counties. We often start and end at a BART station, and we arrange carpools when necessary.
There is always a rear leader (the sweep), and no one is ever left behind. Children are welcome but dogs are not. You may hike as a guest initially, then there is a $25 yearly membership fee. We also do two overnight outings and two luncheons annually, and have various extracurricular activities.
Schedules are posted on our website contracostahills.org. Click on Hikes, Outings at the top of the page, then scroll down to Same Day Hikes and click on the newest quarter. Read the hike description carefully to be sure it is suitable for you.
CCHC can accept up to 15 Meetup attendees per hike; call or email the hike leader and identify yourself as a Meetup participant.
We are a congenial and welcoming group of like-minded people who enjoy and respect nature and the environment. We welcome hikers of all ages and all abilities. Come join us!
