SAN PABLO AVENUE WALK

Details

10:00 Meet in the central concourse at El Cerrito BART (near ticket vending machines).
Walk seven miles down one street, San Pablo Avenue, to 12th St. Oakland BART. San Pablo Avenue was originally a Spanish government highway, a “camino real." Later (1927) part of the transcontinental Lincoln Highway. See pastry shops and balloon shops and tinsel shops along the way, and something different in every block. Even a hydrogen bus refueling station, and huge vivid murals in Oakland, wide or high or both.
Stop for lunch and restrooms halfway at the Paradise Café. Constant bus service the entire length of San Pablo, if you want to skip rest of walk at any point.
