First Friday for Folk Music offers a fantastic music listening experience: live acoustic music by local and traveling artists, low admission fee, alcohol free, non-smoking, secular event, and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Susanna Kennedy is a Savannah, Georgia based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who grew up singing in church choirs, playing classical violin, and belting out musical numbers with her older sister while washing the dishes. Her indie/folk sound is marked by emotionally evocative melodies and lyrics. In her mind, music exists as a conduit for emotions that words alone cannot express. Susanna says of her music, “You want people to feel uncomfortable within themselves and then find a resolution in that discomfort. I want people to be vulnerable all the time.” Susanna’s debut EP was recorded at Back Room Record Studios in Savannah, Georgia and is set for release later this year.
After starting at the age of 18 (now 23) busking on the streets of Savannah, GA, Justin Vreeland has been playing almost every day across the lowcountry in cafes, hotels, festivals, bars, and venues to rave reviews.
Now having shared stages with the likes of Spin Doctors, Everclear, Keller Williams, and many other fellow musicians, Justin is getting ready to put out his next record, an example of his americana songwriting skills, produced by Grammy-nominated musician, Andrew Sovine, at Back Room Record Studios in Savannah.
