Life does not always follow the plan we have made for it.

People disappoint us. Roadblocks appear. Unfairness occurs. Our
children take paths we never imagined for them. A relationship we thought would last comes to an end. We try to get from A to B and somehow find ourselves at Q or Z.

Along the way, we work hard to smooth the path, remove obstacles, settle disputes, and make the Crooked World as straight as possible.

But what drives our need to straighten things out. Is it simply the
practical necessity of dealing with life's difficulties, or is something else
at work?

Can we address a difficulty without being inwardly at war with it?
Does our resistance to what has happened create a second
difficulty beyond the original one? Does the Crooked World really
need to be straightened? And is it possible to find peace in a world that
refuses to follow our plans.

Bring what you notice to our conversation. There is nothing to prepare and no right answer to find. We will simply look together at what happens when life does not go according to plan, and what we might discover about ourselves in the process.
