GREY CANAL HIKE/WALK……VERNON

Details
This trail runs around a good part of Vernon, but we will hike two sections.
First, we will walk the Bella Vista/Okanagan Hills section, then the Turtle Mountain section. We will set up vehicle shuttles so that we don’t have to hike out-and-back, thereby seeing more trail. Total distance one way about 10-12 kms.
Because the Grey Canal is an old irrigation system the hiking should be fairly easy although there will be some elevation in the afternoon. We will see lots of interesting relics of that irrigation section and there are historical markers. For a fascinating history of the Grey Canal, see this:

Pack snacks water, etc. We will need several cars to set up the shuttle (depending on numbers).
Don’t worry in time you will all get explicit directions! and timing!
I will probably send 3-4 vehicles to the Bella Vista start point. Then 5 vehicles to the end of the Turtle Mtn trail. Those people will pile into my vehicle and maybe 1 more to join the beginners at Bella Vista. That should leave 3 vehicles at the Turtle Mtn end to bring back those parked at the Bella Vista start.
Madeleine 😊.
