Japanese Street Food

Details

This time we are going to take a culinary tour through Japan’s side streets and markets and recreate eight delicious Japanese street food dishes in an outdoor setting. To ensure the dishes we make are truly authentic, we are fortunate to have our member Kiko, a native of Tokyo Japan, lead us on this culinary adventure.

Since some of the dishes may be challenging to the participants, we will work together in small teams to prepare them. Recipes will be provided, and everyone will have the opportunity to contribute to at least one or more of the dishes. Kiko has made all of these dishes previously, so she will lend her expertise to any cooking team that needs her guidance.

Menu

  1. Seasoned Edamame
  2. Salad with Home-made Japanese -Style Dressing
  3. Okonomiyaki Three Ways: Seafood, Kimchee & Pork, Cheese & Pork
  4. Poke Shot with Salmon, Tuna, Hamachi and Yuzu Flavored Sauce
  5. Yakitori Two Ways: Chicken & Green Onion, Tsukune (minced Chicken meatballs)
  6. Sizzling BBQ Live Giant Scallop, Osaka Style
  7. BBQ Corn in authentic Japanese sauce
  8. Homemade Mochi with Green Tea Ice Cream

The $23 RSVP fee secures your spot and covers the cost of ingredients to make all of the dishes above. It does not cover drinks however, other than the quite delicious Palo Alto Tap. Please bring your beverage of choice if you would like to drink something more than that. The RSVP fee is non-refundable unless this Meetup is cancelled or rescheduled, so be sure you can commit to attending when you sign up. RSVP's will close at noon the day prior to the event.
