Octopus Baby!!

Details

You read that right! In this event we are going to pay homage to the often-overlooked octopus with a six-course tasting menu where octopus plays a role in every dish. Four of the dishes will be Japanese, one Greek and one Spanish.

For dessert, we have a special treat: Japanese Souffle Cheese Cake with Candied Octopus - Yes, it is that trendy fluffy pancake that has been popular not only in Japan but also in other Asian countries in the past one year! This time, we're making a Cheese Cake version of it. And of course, to match the theme of this event, tiny octopus will appear on top of the cake ..

This event is open to members only, guests cannot be accommodated.

Since some of the dishes may be challenging to the participants, we will collaborate in small teams to prepare each of the dishes. Recipes will be provided, and everyone will have the opportunity to contribute to making one or more of the menu items.

*** Menu ***

  1. Takowasa - Octopus in Wasabi Sauce, is a popular Japanese Izakaya dish of raw octopus and fresh wasabi
  2. Tako Sunomono - Octopus Salad, another popular Japanese Izakaya dish consisting of sliced cucumber and other vegetables in a sweet vinegar sauce with slices of boiled octopus
  3. Takoyaki - Fried Octopus Balls, one of the best-known Japanese street food snacks

  6. Japanese Souffle Cheese Cake with Candied Octopus - We'll see how you like it ... :)

The $26.50 RSVP fee secures your spot and covers the cost of ingredients to make all of the dishes above. It does not cover drinks however, other than the quite delicious Palo Alto Tap. Please bring your beverage of choice if you would like to drink something more than that. The RSVP fee is non-refundable unless this Meetup is cancelled or rescheduled, so be sure you can commit to attending when you sign up. RSVP's will close at noon the day prior to the event.
