What we’re about

Many of us loved this group from before the pandemic, and we are excited to re-launch our cookbook cooking club!! We are excited to have you join the community! No specific cooking expertise required. Just an interest in food and friendship.

We select a cookbook and a date to meet and the events are hosted at a member’s home. Each member who RSVPs for the event adds to the comment section which dish from that cookbook they will make (at home) and bring to the event to share (please make enough for everyone to sample and enjoy). We also recommend bringing something to drink/beverage to share (your choice of wine or other beverage). We then share a communal meal and talk about what we made and select the cookbook for the next date.

Events will move around some – from the City, to the Peninsula, and East Bay – please check location before RSVP’ing to make sure it works for you. Once we have a few events completed we would love for members to also host as well. Event size will vary from 6 to 12 people, based on how many would comfortably fit at each host’s home. If hosting won’t work for you, perhaps you can partner with another host to help out with hosting the wine/beverages or clean-up to make it easier on hosts.

Because the events commonly fill up, and there may be a waitlist, we ask everyone to be super courteous of other members. This includes RSVP’ing at least a week ahead of time (yes or no) and if you are a confirmed attendee please include in the comment section which recipe you plan to cook so we can balance the meal across starters, mains, and desserts. If you RSVP with a +1, each needs to list and bring a dish. Please do not provide a recipe selection if you are waitlisted. A “no” response lets us know you are interested in staying in the group but can’t attend a given event. Anyone that fails to respond either way after 2 events will be removed from the group to make room for active members.

If you need to cancel, please do so at least 3 days ahead of time, to allow someone from the waitlist time to join the event. We will not add people from the waitlist with less than 2 days notice, so wait-listers will have time to post your recipe selection, shop and cook. Last-minute cancellations and no shows will result in you being removed from the group. We are building a respectful community and want everyone to be able to participate.

If you are attending and have food allergies, please add to the comments section, and where feasible we can try for some accommodations – at a minimum, any dishes that contain the specified allergens can be labeled at the event to help you safely steer clear.
