Operator Hack Night at CoreOS

Swing by CoreOS HQ and learn how to build an operator (https://coreos.com/blog/introducing-operators.html) on March 30th! Be sure to bring a laptop and complete the workshop setup tasks (http://bit.ly/operatorhacks) in order to follow along. Operator Workshop

In late 2016, CoreOS introduced the “operator” concept to the Kubernetes community, with a goal of enabling a conversation around using Kubernetes as an extensible platform - a platform capable of incorporating complex operational tactics and customized solution-management best-practices.

Kube Operators established a pattern for introducing higher-order interfaces that represent the logical domain expertise (and perhaps the ideal product output) of a Kubernetes SRE.

Operators feel like native features to K8s end-users because they extend the basic APIs using standard Third Party Resource and Custom Controller abstractions (provided by the platform).

In this workshop, you’ll learn how operators are developed and delivered, making enhanced application-management automation available to your K8s-hosted solutions.

Attendees are expected to be familiar with Kubernetes APIs, CLIs, and common object primitives, and should be interested in developing critical skills for working as a Kubernetes SRE.
