This kata is a departure from our usual algorithmic programming problems. The scope is still small but the kata is not really about solving a complex algorithmic problem. Instead, it is an opportunity for us to see what it is like to implement a REST service and/or UI in different FP languages and platforms.

Details for the kata are on our Github here:

https://github.com/functional-kats-cork/katter

These include specifications for 2 basic REST endpoints but this kata is open for you to take it as far as you like. We can have a lot of fun on the night demonstrating what it looks like to implement this service in different FP languages. We can also spin up our own local instances of our different versions of the service and try making calls to them. If someone wants to implement a simple UI in something like Elm or Purescript etc, we can try and connect this to one of the service implementations.

Look forward to seeing what we come up with!

This is totally optional too - if you want to just come along and have a look at the implementations others have done and enjoy some pizza, that's totally cool, you're more than welcome!

Hope to see you all on the night!
