Sci-fi Book Club Meetup: Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin
Gilman Brewing Santa Cruz Taproom Brewpub Gastropub Restaurant, 817 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz, CA, US🖖Greetings, fellow sci-fi lovers!
📆Our next meetup will be:
Friday, October 16th @ 6:30pm
Gilman Brewing, 817 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz, CA🔢 We'll be discussing Ursula K. Le Guin’s 1969 novel, The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula LeGuin. Winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and Otherwise Awards, this work is told largely from the perspective of an envoy to the frozen planet of Gethen, who hopes to bring its isolated, gender-fluid people into an interplanetary alliance. Part political intrigue, part journey across the ice, this science-fiction classic gives us plenty to discuss about identity, trust, and what it takes to see another person clearly.
📚You are welcome to "read" the book on paper, on Kindle, listen to the audiobook, etc. Come ready to discuss this and any other sci-fi-related things our conversation may touch upon!
🪧Find us on Gilman Brewing's patio with a sign on our table matching the event flyer. Food and drink are available counter-service. Here's a menu: https://order.toasttab.com/online/gilman-brewing-santa-cruz-817-soquel-ave
