What we’re about

This is a new group! I'm still setting everything up, so it's not ready yet, but you can join early, and Meetup will notify you when we're ready to go!

Purpose of this group:
To cover songs together where each of us records vocals for a part of the song, and then we'll combine our individual recordings to form the complete song in an awesome lyric video showcasing everyone’s parts!

You can see an example here: [To-do: add link]

The Collab Cycle:

  1. Initial meetup to suggest and vote for a song to sing together.
  2. Individually practice and record your part at home.
  3. Meetup to share recordings and to brainstorm the visuals for your section of the lyric video and how it can flow smoothly into other members' parts.
  4. Commence video creation! If desired, you can also re-record your own parts at this time.
  5. Meetup to see our collaborative lyric video and suggest revisions if necessary.
  6. Post the video on our Meetup group's instagram and everyone involved gets a copy!

The group size for each collab will be limited to a max of 5 people since there is a limit to how many ways you can cleanly split up a song. But join the waitlist! You can fill in if a member for the current collab cycle drops out!

In addition to collabs, I will be hosting events in-between that have a higher RSVP limit such as karaoke nights, casual singing circles, and mildly song-related activities like watching the fireworks together after covering Firework by Katy Perry :)
This will also give members who weren't able to join the current collab cycle some events to participate.

FAQ:
Do I need any skills not related to singing, like video editing, to sign up for collabs?
Nope! I (the organizer) can handle all of the audio/video editing, but it'll be big help if you can! Not necessary though!

Can I record my part at the meetup?
Unfortunately not, there is too much outdoor noise for that to work. Renting a recording studio is very expensive and not worth it for non-professional use. Feel free to sing at the meetup, but for your actual recording, it's best if you find a quiet place.

What setup do I need for my recording?
Anything that lets you record your voice works. It's best if the music is not heard in your recording. However, if that’s not possible due to your setup, no problem. I can edit it out, but it might reduce your vocal sound quality a bit.

Do I need to play instruments?
Nope! You just have to sing!
