The D.C. Cybersecurity Professionals is one of the largest cybersecurity communities in the country. Founded in 2012, we've grown to nearly 10,000 members — from career changers and students to SOC analysts, pentesters, and CISOs.
We run free virtual meetups covering offensive and defensive security, career development, certification strategy, and hands-on tool demos — all at the unclassified level. Whether you're building your first home lab or leading a security program, there's a seat at the table.
Our community is powered by Cover6 Solutions, a cybersecurity and vCISO firm. Through Cover6 Academy, we also offer affordable certification practice exams (CompTIA Security+, Network+, and more) built by practitioners who've been in the field. No gatekeeping. No fluff. Meet Your Organizer Tyrone E. Wilson is the Founder and CEO of Cover6 Solutions, a cybersecurity and vCISO firm, and has led the D.C. Cybersecurity Professionals since 2012. With 25+ years in IT and cybersecurity, he brings hands-on expertise in network defense, penetration testing, threat analysis, and incident response. Tyrone serves on the Review Boards of BSides NoVA and Howard University, and speaks regularly at major InfoSec events. Through Cover6 Academy, he's building accessible training and certification prep to help the next generation break into and advance in cybersecurity.
