Mountain View: Dealing with Data in C++

Details

When writing programs, inevitably you are going to be dealing with data. Some of it will be sorted, some of it partially, and some not sorted at all. Sometimes you’re only interested in the top 3 or 4 entries. Sometimes you don’t really care about the order but want to split data into several sets. Sometimes you have several different sets of data that you want to join together. This talk will present some of the standard algorithms and how they can help, as well as a few other algorithms not included in the standard library that may be worth taking a closer look at.

Michael Klose started programming at 8 years old, in BASIC on a ZX Spectrum. He started using C++ at the age of 16, which is now more than 25 years ago. These days, despite being a Senior Manager leading Commvault's Silicon Valley engineering team, he still programs C++ code himself whenever he gets the time — mostly after everyone has gone home — and frequently gives internal presentations on C++11(+) and other programming-related topics.
