We are pleased to present Nevin Liber as our main speaker!
Nevin is a Computer Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, a long-time member of the C++ Standardization Committee, and chair of its administrative group—among other roles. With 15 years of experience contributing to the evolution of the language, Nevin offers a unique and personal perspective on how C++ is shaped.
The C++ standardization process is often viewed as arcane and mysterious. Nevin will dispel the myth that the standards committee lives in an ivory tower—in fact, its members bring real-world, hands-on experience to the table. They work hard to make C++ a better language—even if no two people can quite agree on what that means.
This talk will be filled with stories, insights, and lessons about proposals, process, and technology—and how to navigate the challenges of getting things done. Along the way, you’ll hear how features like optional, variant, string_view, span, and others came to be.
We’ll start the evening with a short news segment to catch you up on the latest in the world of C++. Join us for an engaging and insightful session that offers a rare look inside the C++ standardization effort!
Main event starts at 18:30.
