Vocabulary types for composite class design

Details

We're back! After a bit of a break from online meet-ups, we're back for our first in-person event in London for 2.5 years!

We're really pleased to have Jonathan Coe for our main talk, as well as a handful of short, 10 minute, talks as appetisers.

We're being hosted by G-Research, who will also be providing free pizza and drinks (beer and soft). They had meant to be hosting our last in-person meet-up in 2020, before it was cancelled as the pandemic closed in. So it's appropriate that we pick up our journey where we left off!

Agenda:

18:50 "Intro, welcome back, and news" - Phil Nash

19:00 Short talks (10 mins each):

  • "What just got voted in to C++23" - Timur Doumler
  • "What might come after C++?" - Phil Nash
  • "sCi++ : Why I'm Still Using C++ for Science in 2022" - Tobias Wood

19:30 "Vocabulary types for composite class design" - Jonathan Coe

I will present two new classes, polymorphic_value and indirect_ value, which make writing component based classes easier and correct.

20:30 Sharp exit and socialising elsewhere
