Meetup Track
π #1: The Cost of Abstraction: std::function under the microscope
Speaker: Namrata Priyadarshani, Graviton Research Capital LLP
Modern C++ gives as powerful abstraction like std::function , std::bind , std::any . But these conveniences often hide real runtime costs. In this talk we go under the hood of std::function with real code examples, assembly analysis and practical ways to debug unpredictable latency.
π #2: What C++ developers should know about compiling and linking
Speaker: Kai L, Tower Research Capital
The speaker will cover C++ goes from C++ files to an executable, the linker and the includes relationships between files.
π #3: The niche use of [[no_unique_address]] that no one talks about: A lesson on alignment and padding
Speaker: Ryan Chung, Fenix One
[[no_unique_address]] is often used as an optimization for zero-size member subobjects, but it can do much more. We'll be deep diving into its niche use case to help optimize the space usage of certain structs, and look into the guarantees provided by different standards (C++ and ABI).
