I've lived in the area for a while and noticed that while there are plenty of places to learn ballroom and Latin, it's harder to find a spot on the Peninsula dedicated to the social, authentic style of Argentine Tango I've come to love.
I'm starting this group because I want to share the tango I've spent the last 20 years practicing and refining - the kind you find in the social dance events (milongas) and is taught through workshops with Argentinian masters.
My goal isn't just to teach "steps", but to share the actual mechanics of connection and communication that make this dance so special. I call this the "Tango Lab" because I want it to be a bit of an experiment: a welcoming, low-pressure space where we can slow down and really look at how the dance works.
This is about a group of locals getting together to figure out the foundations of a real, social connection. My hope is to grow a small, consistent community here in Newport News where we can all learn and improve together at our own pace.
