Get ready to leave your heart - or at least a piece of it - in San Francisco! Like a multifaceted jewel, it sparkles with natural beauty, astounding and beautiful architecture and not least of all charm. Add to that its mosaic of diverse people and cultures, artistic expression and an atmosphere of warmth and inclusion and you may never want to leave!

We will explore and photograph the "city by the Bay" from Friday afternoon through sunset on Sunday. That's three sunsets, two sunrises and a whole lot in between. You will experience well-known and not so famous locations where you may create a postcard perfect image - or perhaps one that simply expresses your feelings about it.

Our itinerary will be flexible, as we will be guided by the whims of the weather gods and if and how Karl (the fog) shows up. No matter what the gods serve up, you will remember this weekend for a long time and not just because of the images you create and take home. Even if you have been to San Francisco before or live locally, I invite you to see it again.

The diversity of photographic subjects is never-ending in San Francisco. Architecturally you will see everything from Victorian houses, to Beaux-Art and neo classical structures; modern skyscrapers and world-renowned bridges connecting land, people and the imagination. Huge green spaces in the middle of the city and beaches transport you to wild nature and lush gardens. The artistic expression you will see reflects not just the city's history, but the magnificent diversity of the people that have lived here and continue to shape it every day.

My intention is to expand your perspective about your image making process. I will share basic technical information for those that want it, but my focus will always be on seeing (and thinking) creatively first. I will demonstrate creative techniques including long exposures, multi exposures, ICM, panning, macro and how to establish quick rapport with complete strangers, but always invite you to lean into your feelings about place, so you can delve deeper into your creative mind.

My style of teaching is both experiential and intuitive which is why I only work with small groups. Each workshop is limited to a max of 8 participants. No matter where you are in your photographic journey, at the beginning, middle or way down the road, I will endeavor to inspire you. I will tune in to where you need help. And I will challenge you to create an image that stirs the emotions and that you love making and looking at.

There will be both pre and post workshop Zoom meetings as part of this workshop. The first is to answer any questions you have in preparing for the workshop. The second will be in July to give feedback on any images you submit to me as well as a mini post production session in Lightroom.
