    Summary:
Photo Movement+ presents a very special Hip-Hop dance photography workshop with Hovie. Hovie is now performing with House of Chow dance troupe where she is Principal Dancer. She has studied dance at Peridance, NYC and is considered one of the foremost dancers in the Hip-Hop style of Waacking.

Many of us have worked with Hovie before as a dancer and a Rembrandt’s Light Model.

The SoNo Photography Center had the honor of being invited to photograph the latest House of Chow, Dress / Tech rehearsal. If you were fortunate enough to join us, you know how challenging and rewarding photographing Hip-Hop can be.

    Who is this Workshop For:
Beginners are welcome. We learn “hands on”. Dance Photography, like Ballet, is learned by a cycle of practice and critique. In our in studio introductory workshops, participants share a tethered, camera. The tethered camera allows for on the spot critique.
For the comfort and safety of our dancers, shooting with your own camera with strobes, in studio is generally prohibited at our workshops.

If you wish to experience dance photography with your own camera, please register for our Dress / Tech rehearsal photo workshops.

    Cost:
$50.00 studio share and wardrobe cost to be paid on line, ($40.00 for early birds) plus $100.00 to be paid at the door to our dancer. Optional $20.00 model releases available.

Everyone will get to shoot two sets.

The first set will be an Editorial Photography assignment where participants will shoot for a magazine cover learning to compose with empty space to allow for the magazine masthead on top and feature text along the right-hand side.

The second set, Hovie will perform in a simulated performance. This prepares our participants for our Dress / Tech rehearsal photo workshops.

Editorial Photography in the style of Rose Eichenbaum
An overview of Hip-Hop genres and culture.
    We will learn Zone Focusing.
    Incident Light Meter usage.
