Bodies, Pleasure, and Capitalism

Details
This workshop explores the ways that capitalism impacts pleasure, both within ourselves and in relationship with others, and focuses on the collective and individual work of imagining a world of anti-capitalist pleasure practices.
Capitalism as a system is rooted in the false idea of scarcity. How does this scarcity mindset show up in our experiences of our bodies, pleasure, and relationships? How would it feel to think of these things in terms of expansiveness, instead of scarcity? What would it look like to build individual and relational anti-capitalist pleasure practices?
Participants in this workshop will:
· Identify some of the ways that capitalism and capitalist ideas show up in experiences of our bodies, pleasure, and relationships
· Discuss what pleasure could look like outside of capitalism and how we can use pleasure as a tool for dismantling capitalism
· Begin creating their own anti-capitalist pleasure practice
Note on what to expect:
This workshop will involve a combination of presentation, discussion, and activities. This is a presentation by a certified sexual health educator, and none of this workshop will involve touch or any sexual imagery. Pleasure as defined in this workshop is not limited to sexual pleasure, and anyone can participate regardless of what type of personal pleasure practice they are interested in exploring and expanding.
