70m for 70y, the Ayrshire Coast and Back

Hi CTC Glasgow Folks!

🎈🎈🎈In September I'm going to be 70 years of age and I’m planning a 70 mile ride to celebrate (thank-you Peter for the idea). I hope you can join me, followed by post ride refreshments and snacks chez moi.🎈🎈🎈

If you are up for it we will meet at the McLennan Arch in Glasgow Green at 9:30am and head out to Irvine via Lochwinnoch , returning via Kilmarnoch. As far as possible I’m going to try to keep us on cycle routes and quiet roads.

My current route is here https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2964612?units=miles but it may change in detail. I’ll need to do a bit of scouting on the further sections but any comments on the route will be appreciated, especially on the sections through Irvine and Kilmarnock.

I’m not anticipating a fast ride and hopefully we will be back before 5:30pm. If anyone can’t make the ride but would like to join us afterwards at our place for a refreshment, then please send me an email or contact me via Meetup and I’ll send you the address.

It will be great to see you either way.
