Perth to Glasgow
Details
Back by popular demand, a repeat of Michael Quinn's April ride from Perth to Glasgow.
Meet at 0720 at Queen Street Station to catch the 0741 train to Aberdeen, arriving in Perth at 0838.
A 69 mile bike ride through Auchterarder, Gleneagles, Dunblane, Doune then up to Kippen, over the Top of the World and down to Fintry. From Fintry we go over the Crow to Lennoxtown and back to Glasgow via Kirkintilloch and the Forth and Clyde Canal.
The formal ride finishes at Stockingfield Bridge and the Botanic Gardens, giving a wide choice of routes home to various parts of Glasgow.
Banana stop & cafe available at Braco Coffee (21 miles), which is open on a Thursday! There are shops if needed in Auchterarder (15 miles) and Dunblane (30 miles).
Lunch at the Woodhouse Deli & Cafe 41 miles, just before Kippen.
This is a long day's ride of 70+ miles with just over 4000 ft of challenging climbs.
There are plenty of cafe stops along the route, but I would advise you to carry food and fluids, and also spare tubes etc as we will be quite remote. We did the route in April in a fairly comfortable time of 5 hrs 45 mins moving time and less than 8 hrs elapsed time.

**Reservations are need for bicycle space on the train, so it is best to book in good time.**
Ride subject to modification or in the worst case cancellation if weather poor.
If you do not wish to do the full 72 miles it is possible to join the ride at Dunblane Station on the 30 mile mark leaving a more manageable 42 mile ride home. We have arrived at Dunblane around 1200 on previous occasions. Anyone intending to do this needs to inform me and keep an eye out for us.
