What we’re about
If you enjoy the arts and expanding your perspective then this may be the group for you! Did you know there are OVER 50 museums in the Detroit Metro area as well as many cultural interests? Join us to enjoy this rich cultural history we have accumulated here over all these years!
We will have an event at least once a month. It will start with a venue throughout a particular museum or other cultural venue, then convene for a dinner or lunch where we can discuss our viewpoints of the art experience we shared.
All viewpoints need to be respected and treated with kindness. Since the host is expecting you and sometimes there are waitlists, we will abide by the common 3 no show rule before you would be considered for suspension.
Participation in finding and hosting events is always welcome so please feel free to know your ideas will be not only be welcome but part of what will make this group grow!
In addition we require a photo of yourself so we can recognize you at events. Do not apply with a generic photo.

Let us remember "THE GALES OF NOVEMBER" ---
A Special Evening to Tribute to the Edmund Fitzgerald — Song and story telling featuring Mike Fornes performing the “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” by Gordon Lightfoot. Fornes discusses his interaction with the surviving family members of the lost crewmen, generating many first-hand accounts of the tragedy and of how the iconic song was written.

Tickets are $10 each and non refundable. The event begins at 6pm.
Parking is the underground parking lot directly across the street from the Mariner's church is FREE once you get it stamped while in the church lobby.
This is a very emotional and moving experience to feel the grief of this maritime disaster and realize how so many souls are lost to the seas throughout the ages.
After this event those interested can decide on a local eatery to discuss this event and enjoy the rest of the Friday evening.17 attendees
A Polish Afternoon!/ Lunch at Polonia followed by Museum/Art Center
Polonia Restaurant, 2934 Yemans Avenue, Hamtramck, MI, USIn our backyard we have an incredible view of what happens front and center to immigrants who come to the USA. This is a very old community that has welcomed people from many nationalities over the last 100 or so years! The one group that really took hold and refuses to leave its roots there are the Polish!
The Polonia serves authentic polish/Ukranian food. Having dined there recently I must say it is delicious comfort food!
We will gather together at noon in the neighboring parking lot and try to enter together.
They like us to be seated simultaneously so please, please don't be late! Parking is free now so that really makes the visit much easier!
Afterwards just a few blocks down Joseph Campau (their main drag) are the Polish Museum and the Art Center. It is a delightful walk through Hamtramck history as well as memories of the past on many, many levels. The Art center provides products delivered directly from Poland... be it all kinds of foods, candies, memorabilia and beautiful kitchen ware.
Hopefully you can join us for the entire afternoon as we immerse ourselves in this multi cultural city!

Fisher Theater, 3011 West Grand Blvd., Detroit, MI, USSOLD OUT!!! Have I got a deal for you!!*** The group price for this musical, which is getting incredible reviews, is amazing! We have Loge seating rows a & b.
The group price is $74 if I can get at least 10 people (max. 15 people) to pay and sign up by November 11. Without group pricing these seats are $105.30!! At that point we would have to decide who still wants to purchase the tickets without group pricing.

Tina Turner won a total of eight competitive Grammy Awards, in addition to a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and three Grammy Hall of Fame inductions, bringing her total recognized Grammy awards to 12. Her eight competitive wins were from 25 nominations throughout her career.

I will be at the box office handing out tickets. If you do not arrive by 12:45 pm, I will leave your ticket with your name on it at the box office since I need to get seated.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY! Joining 3 other meetup groups third annual :)
Uptown Grille, 3100 East West Maple Road, Commerce Charter Township, MI, USThis will be our third year recreating memories for our annual gathering for the holidays! The number attending here are not representative of the total going since 2 other groups are involved ... so it will be a big party!Please join us for an enormous buffet meal, desserts then we dance to the live band "The Love Junkies" at Uptown.
We have procured the "WINE ROOM" ... their largest dinner/party room at Uptown. You will find the room directly to your left side once you enter through the main entrance.
With beautiful decorations and plenty of space we can start the event with cocktail hour providing us time to get seated and settle in. At 7pm the buffett will be served. Delectible desserts follow. Band generally begins playing by 9pm.
