The tour includes 5 historic homes, 2 gardens, the Frederick Stearns House (a historic bed and breakfast just outside Indian Village), 2 churches and 1 school.The Centennial Garden will host food trucks and provide an area to rest and refresh.

The Historic Indian Village Home and Garden Tour is celebrating the 129th anniversary of our elegant, historic neighborhood. This is the tour’s 48th year. It is the second oldest historic home tour of its kind in Michigan, preceded only by the Marshall Michigan Historic Home Tour.
Tickets must be purchased to attend the event. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. Tickets are $35 if purchased before May 15. Tickets purchased after May 15 are $40. Tickets will be available on site the day of the tour. Online tickets must be picked up at The Detroit Waldorf School (2555 Burns Ave) on the day of the tour!

I will post details for dinner prior to the event. - HISTORIC CANAL TOUR (Detroit by kayak)Detroit River Sports, Detroit, MI
Join me for a tour of Detroit's 'Little Venice' by kayak. We will explore the canals of the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood of Detroit, venture out on the Detroit River while learning about some of the influential people of Detroit's history and the significance of the the Detroit River to the region. The tour is approximately 2 -2.5 hours including gear distribution and safety talks. Bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses and hat. The tour goes out rain or shine, except in the case of severe weather.

After the tour, we can meet for food and drinks at Coriander Kitchen and Farm, conveniently located right next door to Detroit River Sports. Dinner service starts at 5 though they will be open for drinks when the tour ends.

Join me for this walking tour of historic Ferry Street in Detroit near DIA and learn about the people and institutions who made Ferry Street one of Detroit’s most historic neighborhoods . After the tour, we could get lunch at Small World Kitchen.Ferry Street today is known for its beautiful historic homes: Hecker House, Charles Lang Freer House, and the houses that make up the Inn on Ferry Street.
We explore the street that originated with the Ferry Seed Company farm established in the mid-1850s at the corner of East Ferry and Woodward to grow the seeds that were sold nationwide. Then came the prosperous residences in the mid-1880s and the Merrill Palmer Institute in the 1920s as well as population shifts to Jewish in the mid-1910s and to African American in the 1930s. THIS IS A WALKING TOUR. All guests should be prepared to walk, sometimes on surfaces under construction, for more than two hours.
All tours take place rain or shine and are about 2 to 2.5 hours long. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the tour. Advance ticket purchases are available through the afternoon of the Wednesday before the tour. If there is a date missing from the tour page, the tour for that location/date is sold out.

You will see period features up close, carefully preserved or restored by homeowners, including original hardwood floors, stained glass windows, Pewabic and Flint Faience tile, grand foyers, original and renovated kitchens and baths, crystal chandeliers, decorative original plaster crown mouldings, and impressive fireplaces.
Walk, bike, or drive to tour the neighborhood and see the homes. Food trucks and other refreshments will be available most of the day. We invite you to enjoy our friendly and inclusive atmosphere and meet some of the people that make the University District such a vibrant place to live.
