What we’re about

In the fall of 2018 the number of electric cars on North American roads surpassed one million. Electric bicycles and a new class of Neighbourhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) are also exploding in popularity. Why is this happening, and what does this mean for our economy, the shape or our city, and for climate change? Come talk to electric vehicle owners--from e-bikes to Teslas, and everything in between--and check out these non-polluting, quiet, affordable, and exciting new ways to get around.

We meet twice a month at public venues (a cafe and a distillery) in the Comox Valley.

Our current schedule is a gathering at the Bayside Cafe on Cliffe Avenue every second Saturday morning of the month from 10:00 until noon.  (Always check for occasional date changes.)   Sometimes we plan a short presentation on a topic of interest, although mostly it's just a time to chat informally and ask questions of or share stories with each other.

Then we also meet every fourth Thursday of the month at the Wayward Distillery from 4:00 until 6:00 PM (with occasional exceptions...again, check the events listing).  This is generally more social, but sometimes we make announcements and there are also two EV charging stations there to demonstrate how they work.

Beyond that, we hold larger public events to showcase all of the electric vehicles in the Valley, and these events often include a chance for the public to drive an EV (usually hosted by local dealers).

Watch for our planned Meetup times here, or suggest one.  We will try to accommodate the schedules of those interested in the future of electric vehicles.
