Week 9 - AI-Powered Adversaries: Defending Against Agentic Threats in an Accelerating Landscape
This week in CSTGIA 2026, we confronted a hard truth: The threat landscape is no longer evolving. It is accelerating. AI is no longer just a productivity multiplier. It is now a threat multiplier.
We explored the compression of the attack lifecycle, where reconnaissance, lateral movement, and ransomware orchestration can now unfold at machine speed. We examined the rise of “agentic” threats, where AI agents can autonomously execute end-to-end operations. We discussed vulnerabilities in AI tools themselves, exposed APIs, cloud sprawl, OT targeting, and collapsing trust boundaries.
The takeaway?
Cyber resilience in 2026 is not reactive defense.
It is engineered advantage.Leaders must build:
• AI-aware governance
• Identity-centric security
• Machine-speed detection
• OT & IoT segmentation
