Join me on a 100-mile round trip ride from Griffith Park to Long Beach and back via the Los Angeles River Bike Path . This is an organized event that benefits the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC). Sign up today for the early bird registration fee. (The price goes up on Feb. 1.) Here is the link that contains additional information on the event and registration: http://la-bike.org/bike_ride/river-ride/ This is a great ride if it's your first century, as the course is relatively flat and fast. For those not quite ready for a century, there are additional distance options of 70, 50, or 36 miles. No matter what distance you plan on riding, sign up for the 100-mile ride so you can start the ride at 7:00 a.m. The event is well organized with six pit stops along the course that have refreshments and mechanical support. We plan on meeting a few minutes before the ride starts for a group picture and will try to stay together during the day. If our riders are traveling at a different pace, we will regroup at the pit stops. If the group size is large, we may end up riding in several sub-groups determined by speed. This will be the 8th year in a row that I have participated in this event. It is always a good time. Join me this year, and I will buy you a beer at the post-ride expo.
