Last-Minute Private NYE in Old Town โ International Employees (30+ attendees)
Details
๐ Hosts (also available on Messenger):
- Markus/Milder (founder of Daily Meetups)
First off, I believe announcing something only an hour before the event is my new personal record. Then again, I've been away from hosting (Daily Meetups in general) so I hope you can cut me some slack, as the idea was fairly last-minute.
๐ If you are/were at a company with at least 100 people (in Estonia) and came here to work from abroad, here's an invite to celebrate NYE together in a cosy apartment in the Old Town.
Expect 30+ international employees from companies listed in the footer, and a few Estonian friends of mine in my personal VIPE list (Very Inclusive Person/Estonian) ๐
๐ฅ 2-min clip explaining the idea behind these private events that bring together employees across companies.

## ๐ How to join / get on the list?
### 1. Get in touch (required)
Message me on my LinkedIn. Or email if you donโt use LinkedIn:
meetupsdaily@gmail.com
### 2. LinkedIn invite-only event
Iโll invite you to a private LinkedIn event, which includes:
- All practical info (time, place, access)
- A walkthrough video of the venue
- Answers to common FAQ (based parties 3 years ago)
- See who else is attending
### 3. Private WhatsApp group
This is currently the best way to stay fully informed on parties, dinners, movie nights with three screens in sync and the rest.
On Sunday evenings, Iโm adding newcomers across companies to an invite-only WhatsApp group.
I personally moderate it so that it stays strictly about bringing people together โ nothing else. I've been lucky that there have been helpful people to step in as admins these 2 years that I've been away. I'm not gonna change anything about the Daily Meetups chats that successfully continue to run.
But my sole focus is still to make sure you have a great time in Tallinn, for as long as you are here. Which is why the chats I moderate inherit that same purpose โ they exist purely to bring people together. Unless stated otherwise, of course ๐

## ๐ช๐ช Bringing Estonians into the mix
The one aspect I feel like I haven't done a good job at is bringing my fellow Estonians into the mix, and I want to work toward that. Which is why Iโll also be inviting a small number of friends to these events.
Even if they are not necessarily employees of the listed companies.
These are the people I know to be:
- Outgoing (especially in English) ๐๐โ๏ธ
- Most have studied and/or worked abroad
- Comfortable bridging locals and internationals
- Good at setting the tone in a room ๐๐ (so I wouldn't have to )
Iโve coined this the VIPE list โ Very Inclusive Person / Estonian. Being in that VIPE list simply means that they are someone I trust to be welcoming โ regardless of whether theyโre attending as an employee at one of the companies, my friend, or a friend of a friend.
Someone who actively helps make the evening better for everyone. Rather than just dropping in to drink my liquor, charge their phone, and disappear into a corner with the same people they already know.
At some point, Iโll also be creating a VIP list ๐
Very Inclusive Person โ for internationals I know and trust, who are likewise not necessarily employees but help me with creating a great experience. Especially by welcoming all the newcomers who have just arrived to these private events.
This isnโt about status or hierarchy โ itโs simply a way for me to make sure the mix of people Iโve brought together actually works, and that everyone feels welcome from the get-go. In a nutshell, Iโm looking for people who help carry the social load a little ๐

## ๐ฅ Drinks, cocktails & how this works
Feel free to bring your own, but there will also be a couple hundred eurosโ worth of drinks already there:
- Glรถgg
- Red wine
- Gin
- Whiskey
- And some bubbly weโll promptly pop ๐ฅ (prosecco, cava, etc.)
Iโll be making cocktails throughout the night, so just let me know your favorite: Whiskey sour? Negroni? Something else?
You can also make coffee or tea, and there will be a bare minimum of snacks. (weโll save proper food experiences for dinners.)

## ๐ธ Costs & accountability
I started Daily Meetups ~3 years ago with more private events, and many of those are still among my best memories โ for attendees and for me.
That said, thereโs a reason I stepped back from hosting those so often:
> Each event used to cost me ~200โฌ out of pocket โ mostly because I was making Whiskey Sours and pouring glรถgg for 6 hours straight ๐
So for this NYE:
- Please bring some cash, or
- Make a transfer the next day (easier for me to keep track)
- Amount is up to you, based on how was it ๐๐
- I'm happy to make cocktails, but not count how many youโve had
PS: This is also why this is an invite-only event with a confirmed list.
Being on the list creates just enough social accountability so:
- Mindful of how much you drink
- Everyone behaves responsibly (towards the place & people)
- I donโt have to worry โ and can actually have a great time with you

## ๐ค Why LinkedIn?
- Verification โ to confirm you are / were employed at one of the listed companies
- Curation โ your profile helps me invite you to the right dinners, parties and other gatherings. Meet the people you want to meet.
- Something in common โ the more you have to talk about, less "moderating" I have to do as host
- Enough with the team building events with the same people you spend most of your day with โ how about I bring you together with other internationals in the same company, and Estonians? Who you barely get to meet outside the office, but would definitely hit it off with.

## ๐ฃ Sharing & +1s
- Feel free to share this event in your company Slack
- Anyone joining must still message me on LinkedIn to be added
- +1s are allowed, but I do need their names in advance
- Totally cool if you won't make it in the end, but I will only let you in if you hit RSVP on LinkedIn before the event starts (and message me your +1s).

## โ ๏ธ Important
Only people on the LinkedIn attendee list are allowed in. The invite-only event that I invite you to after you've messaged me there ๐
No exceptions.
