- [TOPIC TO CONFIRM]
- Open social time
Coffee and conversation, no prep required. Please RSVP so we know how many to expect.
What is a hyperlocal conversation?
A hyperlocal conversation is a casual, neighborhood-specific monthly gathering of neighbors who care about walkability, bikeability, affordability, sustainability, and livability. Each meeting opens with 45 to 60 minutes of guided discussion, then open social time.
At each meeting you can expect to:
- Learn about your neighborhood. Meet neighbors who care about walkability, share stories about life here, pick up local history, and name both what is working and what needs fixing.
- Stay informed. Hear about elections and referendums, find out which surveys and public comment periods are open and how to take part, and discover other advocacy groups working nearby.
- Get educated on the issues. Cover the basics of one urbanism topic each meeting, such as transit funding, zoning, bike lane economics, or road diets. Ask questions, see how the topic applies to your own block, and learn who represents you and how to reach them.
- Be inspired to act. Hear what has actually worked elsewhere, keep talking after the guided portion ends, and get help on next steps if a group of you wants to take something on.
Our vision is a conversation in and for every neighborhood in Dallas. No background in planning or policy required.
