🚨 Data & AI Professionals: Be Honest With Yourself
Let me ask you a hard question šŸ‘‡
Is the work you’re doing creating recognition and useful change… or just GRIND?

Because:

Shipping dashboards nobody uses is GRIND
Training models that never reach production is GRIND
Constant firefighting to ā€œkeep the lights onā€ is GRIND

Being ā€œbusyā€, ā€œneededā€, and ā€œindispensableā€ — without impact — is still GRIND
šŸ’” Effort ≠ Value
šŸ’” Complexity ≠ Impact
šŸ’” Being trusted ≠ being promoted

Value only exists when something changes for someone else.

The uncomfortable truth about Data & AI careers
If you can’t clearly answer:

Who benefits from this work?
What actually changes because I did it?
How will anyone prove it worked?

… then your work is invisible, no matter how hard or clever it is.

That’s how talented data professionals become:
āŒ Exhausted
āŒ Stuck
āŒ Indispensable but unrecognised

When the work becomes GRIND, you still have choices
You are not powerless.

There are only three rational responses when value disappears:

šŸ” Renegotiate
Clarify scope. Reset success metrics. Redefine what ā€œgoodā€ looks like.

šŸ”§ Redesign
Change the workflow. Shift from analysis to deployment. Reduce rework and BNVA.

🚦 Relocate
Move teams. Move domains. Move roles. (Yes, sometimes even move organisations.)

What doesn’t work?
āŒ Hoping it magically gets better
āŒ Waiting for a title to rescue you
āŒ Just working harder

Tomorrow’s question for Data & AI Professionals
Before you start your next task, ask:

Is this creating useful change… or just keeping me busy?

If you can’t articulate the value out loud, it probably doesn’t exist.
šŸŽÆ Know Your Value is not a slogan.
It’s a professional survival skill.

šŸ“… 16 April we are running a webinar for Data & AI Professionals on: How to recognise GRIND early — and use the 3R’s to intentionally change your trajectory.

If this made you uncomfortable, good.
That discomfort is data.
