Usher in the Year of the Fire Horse and all the auspicious blessings it may bring! We will be harnessing the elements of this Lunar New Year with a special gathering on the final day of Losar (Tibetan), Chinese and Korean New Year celebrations.

This year is a rare and powerful zodiac year that only occurs once every 6o years. This is an opportunity to direct your energy towards desired important turning points. The Horse aligned with this year’s Fire element brings rapid change combining the horse’s natural speed with fire’s volatility. This is a time for bold action and demanding authenticity. But also, requiring firm pacing and critical rest.

So let’s practice both centering, intentional rest and reflection, along with transformative movement to fire up our own creative, change-making passions. Break through stagnation, either quietly or fiercely, with the warmth of our monk’s tea, movement of dance and serenity of sound healing.

This collaborative effort includes a full ecstatic dance mix and a full sound bath. If you like, wear something new-to-you that is red such as a ring, scarf, dress, flower, pin — it's just auspicious to have something red and also new so we invite you to embrace that tradition.

Sliding scale is payable at the door:
$20 (community access) for those currently on a tight budget
$40 (sustainer) helps us cover costs
$60 (supporter) actual value that supports our experienced facilitators and organizers.

COMMUNITY ALTAR: open invitation to bring items to charge in the space and soak up the magic of the evening. Things to consider when intentionally selecting items to place on the Lunar New Year altar: to balance the fire energy consider earth elements (pottery, stones, wood); Jade for harmony, citrine and carnelian for confidence and creativity, obsidian or onyx for grounding, moonstone for calm intuition, horseshoes for luck; it is also a time to pay homage to ancestors. Candles housed in a safe container are ok, but please refrain from extra incense as some in our community are highly sensitive.

CASTING INTENTIONS: materials will be provided for those who wish to privately take time to place their intentions in writing, and place them on the altar.

TEA & REFLECTION: our Tibetan Monk’s Tea is inspired by an age-old recipe developed in a Tibetan monastery, our tea is a blend of black and green teas with an unique floral flavor.

ECSTATIC DANCE: is a free form, meditative movement experience. The Losar Fire Horse mix is being created to evoke the feelings of breaking free, adding fuel to desires, forward momentum, and steadying change — the music taking you on a journey as if you yourself contain the wild and free horse spirit. This mix is 1h 15min.

SOUND BATH: Derek and Heather, both practicing Shamans, will create a safe and nurturing environment using Drums, Crystal singing bowls, Tibetan Bowls, Handpan, and Native American Flute. They will settle us into the room with a grounding opening sound immersion, and then end our dance with a healing sound bath to complete your journey. Only a few yoga mats and bolsters may be available, so please bring your own blanket, pillow and other comfort items to help you relax and receive. The sound bath experience may last up to an hour.

CONNECTION & COMMUNITY: community is important to us. Our gatherings leave time for us to practice active listening — a gift that allows others to feel seen and heard, nurtured and loved.

EMBODY THE FIRE HORSE: if you want to more fully embody the fire horse feel free to embrace it in your clothing. The element of fire is characterized by red, orange and gold colors, with red also being an auspicious color for New Year celebrations. You may find balance with accents of green, navy, florals, and silk scarves or flowing fabrics.

Reminder to bring water to stay hydrated during the dance wave. This is a safe space and will be drug-free, alcohol-free, smoke-free and conversation-free during the dance itself. Our desire is to be inclusive of all - all bodies, abilities, ages, etc.

Requested Contribution: $20-60
Fees help us cover the venue, music and highlighted guests.
