Join us for our next meetup focussed on the developer experience. Whether you're a designer or engineer, everyone interacts with the API of your design system so it's important to make this a great experience. From tokens to components, and everything in between, we all have difficult decisions to make when designing systems—what should be a variation vs a new components, which props or modifiers should we make available, how should we share system primitives or design tokens, what should we name things, and how do we make this all easy and efficient to use? Our speakers will share their experiences from the early stages to large-scale, and how they work to design a great development experience.
SPEAKERS
Jenn Creighton is a senior front end engineer at ClassPass where she writes code between workouts. She is likely to talk your ear off about React, JavaScript, or her hatred of CSS floats. She lives in New York City with her 2 cats, 1 dog & 13 succulents. Say hello to her @gurlcode!
Stephanie Manwaring is a software engineer at XO Group in NYC. She makes up 50% of the Core Front End squad which is the team of engineers responsible for optimizing all things related to the front end as well as maintaining XO Group's robust UI pattern library.
Arielle Sullivan is a software engineer at Betterment where part of her focus is contributing to the team's design system. She collaborates with designers every day to make powerful, easy to use tools and is excited to share some lessons learned along the way.
Connor McNabb is a product designer with past stints in copywriting, frontend engineering, and digital advertising. Currently a Staff Product Designer at Betterment, Connor laments the “good-old-days” when he could sell clients on the idea of a design system while remaining naive to the challenges of maintaining one.
