East River Park Track Workout

Details

The East River Park track is east of the FDR at East 6th Street. It is a little over a mile from the closest subway stops (F train to 2nd Avenue, 6 to Astor Place or L to First Ave).

Thursday workouts change from week to week and will be announced in advance. At 7:00 we begin our warm-up routine (15-20 minutes in length) before breaking into pace groups for the workout.

Important Information about East River Park Track: The Whippets have been running here for many years and have experienced thefts of our belongings. Please DO NOT bring valuables -- and it would be safest to run with your phone/wallet on you.

There are limited overhead lights, so it gets a little dark during the fall and winter months. Also, bathrooms are locked at 7pm so best to take care of that beforehand. During the winter, nearby water fountains are off so bring your own. If you have a bike, make sure you have a lock because you'll have to keep your bike outside the track area.

Gym members who would like a place to change and store valuables: There is a New York Sports Club on Ave A and 2nd Street (3/4 mile from the track) and a Crunch at Bowery and 4th Street (1 mile from the track).

See you there -- and please contact a Whippet captain if you have any questions!
