Title: Zen and the Art of Data Storytelling

Synopsis: Between 2018 and 2021, Yong Jun worked as a data journalist with The Straits Times Interactive Graphics Team, a time when the team experimented with new approaches to data storytelling and tackled increasingly large, complex datasets. Through sharing some of his past published and unpublished work, he hopes to impress, inspire, and ignite his curiosity — to see data not just as a means to an end (for KPIs, training ML models, etc), but as a medium that holds interesting, meaningful stories and narratives.

Format: This is the 3rd in a series of talks held in tandem with MTD's human-centered design for information visualization module.

Event is conducted in person together with 30+ masters and phd students from the MTD module. Seats for the classroom space are really limited, so if you are registered to attend but cannot make it, please do release the slot. Great opportunity to network or meet people if you're interested in the data visualization space. Thanks!
