DataDive! A weekend of data science for social impact

Data scientists, unite - the time is now! We gather on July 21st - July 22nd for a DataDive, a weekend of working with data to improve the world.

At a DataDive, volunteers meet over the course of a weekend to tackle data projects from mission-driven organizations. We assemble in teams of 15-20 data scientists, hacking in the name of good.

We’ll kick off Saturday morning with breakfast and project introduction, work all day (and into the night) on Saturday, then wrap up with the presentation on Sunday afternoon. We hope that everyone will be able to attend all two days!

Project abstract -

Data Kind SF is partnering with the non-profit Economic Roundtable to use untapped data collected over a seven-year period to better understand homelessness in Los Angeles County. The data dive will happen simultaneously in Los Angeles and the Bay Area on the weekend of July 21-22, 2018. The Los Angeles event will be held at USC.

Data scientists are being challenged to answer the question, “who experiences homelessness in Los Angeles over the course of a year?”

A detailed project document will be sent out to the RSVP'ed volunteers before the event.
