Previously, the Leeds SQL Server user group. The Data Platform & Cloud group is for anyone interested in learning more and/or sharing their knowledge of the Microsoft Data Platform or Azure Cloud Computing Services.

Topics and technologies will be varied but along the lines of SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, Power BI, Azure DB, Azure automation, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, SQL Server on Linux and containers. All skill levels are welcome.

The dbatools project brings automation to the forefront of the SQL Server configuration, operations, and deployment tasks. In this session, we will look at how to install and configure multiple SQL Servers quickly and consistently using dbatools deployment tools. Once those systems are up and running we will look at how to configure and manage multiple systems using PowerShell automation techniques. By the end of this session, you will have the tools, techniques, and code to automatically and consistently deploy and configure SQL Server in your environment.

Anthony is the Founder and President of Centino Systems as well as a Pluralsight Author and a Microsoft Data Platform MVP, Linux Expert, and Corporate Problem Solver. Anthony designs solutions, deploys the technology, and provides expertise on business system performance, architecture, and security. Anthony has a Bachelors and Masters in Computer Science with research publications in high performance/low latency data access algorithms and spatial database systems.

Install & Configure SQL Server with PowerShell DSC
Get on the cutting edge by implementing infrastructure as code for your SQL Server environment. Using PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) we'll look at how to take a newly built Windows Server and get it ready for prime time while discussing the benefits associated with infrastructure as code.

Jess Pomfret is a SQL Server Database Engineer and a Microsoft MVP. She started working with SQL Server in 2011, and enjoys the problem-solving aspects of performance tuning and automating processes with PowerShell.

She also enjoys contributing to dbatools and dbachecks, two open source PowerShell modules that aid DBAs with automating the management of SQL Server instances. She has also contributed to the SqlServerDsc module, adding several new resources to use when configuring your SQL Servers.

She grew up in the South West of England and outside of her DBA life enjoys CrossFit, cycling and watching proper football.
