DSPT#103: "Machine Learning Platform thinking" with DevOps Aveiro
Details
For this year’s second meetup, we’re building a bridge. We’re teaming up with the team from DevOpsAveiro to bring together the two technical domains through two talks. Bosch Aveiro will be hosting us and supporting the community as they have in many different initiatives. Save the date and join us for the learning and networking opportunity.
The schedule for the webinar is the following:• 18:30 - 18:45: Opening the meeting
• 18:30 - 18:45: Opening the meeting
• 18:45 - 19:15: IaC utilizando Pulumi - José Santos
• 19:15 - 19:25: Networking/Coffee Break
• 19:25 - 19:55: Machine Learning Platform thinking - André Godinho
• 19:55: Dinner is optional but it might be an excellent opportunity for networking ( https://forms.gle/9XmvGE3dHKzzGNcf9)
See you there!

Title: IaC utilizando Pulumi
Abstract: In the context of the migration of a project to a Cloud platform, we decided to use a new technology to manage the infrastructure, in this case, Pulumi.
In this presentation, we will show you a little about this tool and how it can help manage infrastructure as code in the cloud.
Short-bio:
José Santos graduated in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications at the University of Aveiro and worked for seven years in the area of Intelligent Networks with several international clients. He joined Bosch in 2016 where he has worked since then as a DevOps Engineer in the IoT area.-

Title: Machine Learning Platform thinking
Abstract: The goal of industrial Machine Learning squads is to develop ML products and rapidly bring them into production to generate business value. However, it is challenging to automate, operationalize, and standardize ML products and thus many ML endeavors fail to deliver on their expectations - many times due to technical debt. In this talk, we discuss how can we can tackle this challenge by enabling ML Platforms that accelerate ML practitioners’ productivity through loosely-coupled shared services that also bridge the gap between Data Engineering and Data Science. Then, we will display specific services of this ML Platform and dive deep into leveraging Feature Stores and Data Mesh.
Short-bio:
André is an ML Engineer at DareData Engineering, currently focused on MLOps endeavors. In particular, directly building ML Platforms that empower Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and ML Engineers to manage the ML lifecycle from development to production.André holds an MSc in Data Science and Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico.
