Abstract: In this workshop, we will delve into the realm of anomaly detection, a cornerstone of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), as we dissect an hour of real-time network traffic from the University of Aveiro. Through hands-on demonstration, we will uncover anomalies and identify malicious traffic flows, gaining valuable insights into safeguarding networks from evolving threat

Bio:
Mário Antunes holds the position of an Associate Professor at the University of Aveiro. In 2018, he triumphantly concluded his doctoral program in computer science at MAPi, where he garnered recognition as a finalist in three esteemed international competitions. His primary research interests encompass Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, particularly (but not exclusively) Distributed Learning, Federated Learning, tinyML, and XAI. His research endeavours have been effectively applied to Knowledge Extraction and Context Storage in IoT Scenarios, Evaluation and modelling of the costs of AI in NGN, efficient Multi-Knee detection for cache optimisation, and numerous other areas.
