Talk Abstract:
This session offers a practical introduction to LlamaIndex. We'll combine information retrieval with large language models (LLMs) to build powerful AI systems. We'll focus on the initial steps of setting up a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system, while also getting you familiar with core LlamaIndex concepts like Documents, Nodes, and VectorStoreIndex.
What you'll gain:
- Hands-on experience: Set up LlamaIndex, load your data, and build a search index.
- Core concepts: Understand Documents, Nodes, and VectorStoreIndex.
- RAG foundation: Grasp how retrieved information enhances LLMs in RAG tasks.
Prerequisites:
- Basic Python
- If you want to follow the session, bring your laptop with Python installed.
By the end, you'll have a strong base for building advanced RAG systems with LlamaIndex!
About the speaker:
- Guilherme Cardoso, Head of Data Science & AI @ Scotty AI
Guilherme Cardoso plays a key role in the growth of his team, focusing on optimizing and harmonizing processes between humans and chatbots for a more natural and intuitive experience. With a solid academic background acquired with a master's degree in Computer Engineering and Telematics from the University of Aveiro, he has participated in internal Data Science projects and H2020 R&D initiatives for Altice Labs and the Telecommunications Institute of the University of Aveiro. He is currently working on cutting-edge technologies for NLP (Natural Language Processing) problems such as Transformers, Entity Recognition, and Extraction, among others, and, more recently, on technologies based on LLMs (Large Language Models) - as is the case with ChatGPT.
