DSPT x NOS: AI in Action - From Global Data to Local Impact

Lisbon, we've arrived! 🚀 Join Data Science Portugal for our comeback to the capital on October 1st, hosted by our friends at NOS, with a special guest from Feedzai.

NOS will open the doors of their Lisbon office for us to meet, greet and learn about the latest in AI innovation. We'll explore one of the biggest challenges in Data Science today: how do you adapt an AI model trained on an original dataset to a new market?

Ricardo Pereira from Feedzai will present "Hey, I've Seen This One!", where he'll show how transfer learning techniques are applied to augment fraud detection systems. By leveraging knowledge across different markets and products, these methods help models adapt faster, spot attacks earlier, and reduce retraining costs. The talk will cover practical considerations for deploying these techniques in production, as well as ongoing research that will shape the next generation of fraud prevention. Don't miss it!

You will also get an inside look at data innovation at the heart of NOS. The expert team from NOS will share three cutting-edge projects:

• The Journey of AI at NOS: Diogo Passagem Santos will walk through the evolution of Data Science at the company, from classic on-premise machine learning projects to modern, cloud-based generative AI assistants.
• NOS Recsys: Football is a beloved sport both at the stadium and at home. Tiago Monteiro will explain how this AI-driven NOS recommender system tailors sports channel offers for fans, considering complex market dynamics and viewing patterns.
• Guia-NOS: Joana Sousa will present a mobile application that uses computer vision and GenAI to assist blind people. This project was piloted at NOS Alive, and showed huge potential for enabling more independent and secure navigation of the environment.
