Shining a Light on Personal Data by Martina Zunica and Alenka Gucek

Challenges are a great way to practice data visualization skills and accidentally learn new things. During this presentation, our speakers Martina Zunica and Alenka Gucek will discuss their perspectives on quantifying and visualizing our lives. Looking at the experiences from the #journaldataviz challenge, our speakers and attendees will challenge themselves in a hands-on workshop, looking at our personal lives from a different point of view.

Speakers:

• Martina Zunica is an Information Design Professor at the Quasar Institute for Advanced Design and a Global Visual Communication Expert at Gucci.
• Alenka Gucek is a Researcher and Data Visualization Engineer at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Jožef Stefan Institute.

Format:
This session will be split into two parts: we will start with a short presentation about the motivation behind and insights from the #journaldatavis challenge by Martina and Alenka. Then, we will conduct a short hands-on workshop visualizing data from our own lives with pen and paper.
