Subject of Discussion: What Did They Know and When Did They Know It?
It is not as though the Brethren are innocent bystanders, blindsided by new information in the age of Google. No, they have always known.
In law, such conduct would be called negligence, or more accurately fraud by omission. If a corporation knowingly withholds material facts from its shareholders, it faces liability. If a Church knowingly withholds material facts from its tithe-payers, it calls it “faith promotion.”
The irony could not be richer: men who command adults to stand and bear testimony that the Church is true, while they themselves sit on documentary proof that it is not. Were this a business, they would be in orange jumpsuits. But because it is a church, they are sustained by raised hands and reverent hymns.
