Alive and Still Kicking

My fellow boardgamers,

It has been three and a half months since the car accident, and a lot has changed.

Both of my legs have healed, although the right one still has an inflamed knee ligament. I can be lifted and moved by my knees, although still with more pain than before. Neither of my knees extends as far as it did, necessitating a change in my wheelchair leg support that makes getting into the chair much more difficult and time-consuming. Some of the changes appear to be permanent, especially lessened movement in my legs and back.

I am out and about again, although I spend more time in bed than I did, and I still tire more easily. The bouts of depression are shorter, but there is much to be concerned about, as the staff situation continues to be a struggle. The bottom line is: unemployment may be up, but few people are looking for work at this level.

Although I can now do some of my business work, much of it still goes undone, as it is still hard to focus. I work more slowly, and reach my limit of mental endurance much more quickly than before.

I wish to send a tremendous "thank you" to everyone who called and sent email during this difficult time. I especially would like to thank all of those who stopped by in person for a visit; those visits truly sustained me and helped me feel I was still a valued member of the community. For those who wanted to visit and didn't have the chance, I'm still here! Call or drop me a line so we can arrange a time. We should all take more time to connect with others.

I look forward to seeing you at the theatre, at a meetup, at a convention or other event soon!
