Bill Yeck Park Hike (Smith House) - 5 - 6 miles
Bill Yeck Park - Smith House Trailhead, 2230 East Centerville Station road, Centerville, OH, USDistance: 5 - 6 Miles
Pace: 3.0 mph (brisk) depending on trail conditions
No pets, please
Let's get a brisk 6 mile hike in at Bill Yeck Park. There will be hills, creek crossings and mud on the trails, so sturdy hiking boots and trekking poles are recommended. If we have had recent snow or ice, traction devices are also recommended. Dress for the weather and bring water.
In the event of inclement weather causing hazardous conditions, I may cancel, so please check this page before heading out Saturday morning.
A Friendly Guide to Sharing the Trails: As we hike, we'll be sharing the path with others. To ensure a peaceful experience for everyone, let's be mindful of how we communicate. Instead of loud call-outs, let's use quiet voices and enjoy the sounds of nature. 🐦 When encountering others, we can simply move to the right to let them pass. ➡️ If someone is coming up behind our group, a quiet message passed up the line works perfectly. There's no need to yell, stop or leave the trail entirely; just making a little space is all that's needed for everyone to share the path gracefully. ⚜️

1pm start time: Germantown MetroPark Hike 7-9 miles - Moderately Brisk
7501 Conservancy Rd, Germantown, OH, USStart time of 1pm.
We'll hike the beautiful Germantown MetroPark on the "classic" 7.1 mile Orange trail. The "classic" route is the original route of the Orange trail, which excludes the mostly prairie section. If muddy, which is often the case, we'll hike the roughly parallel Yellow, Green, and Pink trails. We'll add the optional Bob Siebenthaler loop if desired. Wear hiking boots or trail running shoes.
The hike will begin at the scheduled start time. If late, please join us 2 miles into the hike, at the Welcome Center, where we make a brief stop. Bring water and a snack if desired. If your plans change please update your RSVP to "not going".
The pace should be approximately 3.0-3.3 MPH (18-20 min/mile). This is not a slow pace. If the pace is too fast for you, please be prepared to hike on your own back to your car.
Dogs are permitted with leashes no longer than 8 feet, per park guidelines.
Please note that some GPS units in cars will not route you properly to the start of the hike. Instead, in the Meetup app for the hike, tap the Google icon and follow the routing.
