Yoga Hike at Englewood MetroPark & optional post-hike stroll at Aullwood Garden

Details

The Hike
This hike will include a 10-minute grounding yoga practice before heading out onto the trail and a 10-minute post-hike integration practice. Meet at Patty's Shelter at the Patty Falls trailhead on Patty Road. We'll do about a 3-mile loop to see both Patty Falls and Martindale Falls and then down to the river bank for a bit. We'll end by hiking through one of the many meadows that this park has --- a combo of the green and white trails, if you are familiar with Englewood's trails. Here's the map: https://www.metroparks.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/metroparks-Englewood-map-07-2015.pdf

No yoga experience required --- just your ability to breathe.

This is the first time I'm leading a hike with yoga so if we like it, maybe the next one will be a hike to a scenic overlook where we will do a longer practice? Oh, and I've been a yoga teacher for 12 years.

The Terrain
A mix of hilly and a little rocky until we hike down to the riverbed area where it will then be mostly flat. The meadow is, well, a meadow but it has a defined path.

The Equipment
If you have a yoga mat or beach towel, bring it. It's also just fine to practice on the grass. If comfortable for you, we'll do part of the practice in bare feet but it's not required of you.

I have new hiking poles so I'll be trying them out but you know yourself best so bring whatever equipment and water you know you need to be safe.

After Hike Visit to Aullwood Garden
I'll be going to Aullwood Garden after the hike to check out what's blooming. Anyone is welcome to join in. Aullwood Garden is located across the dam from the entrance of Englewood Metro Park. It is part of the Five Rivers Metro Parks. Aullwood Garden is NOT the same as the Aullwood Audubon Center, which is right next door and is a separate 501(c)(3) that has a fee for hiking.
